Thread Search delay [Archive]

Why is it that when you do a search or select New Posts for example does the little box come up saying that you have to wait 20seconds to do another search?

I haven't seen this on any other forums that I frequent..

Searches actually eat up a lot of bandwidth and can slow the forum down. The 20 second wait is a pre-set function, and can be changed, but is usually in place to keep it from overloading.

It happens to me on the Team Camaro forum sometimes Mitch :)

I gathered it was for something like that.

Can be frustrating when you go into a thread and and have read it quiker than the 20 sec delay... I'm sure i'll survive though...

Just took some concrete tablets so I'll be right now ;) :p
