Just wondering what other forums you guys are members of?
Both in Oz and the US.
Just interested to where else I can get some info for my Belair.
Thanks.

These are in the US and have some pretty helpful guys,

If your car is Australian delivered though, remember it was made in Canada probably and will contain a combination of Chev, Pontiac and Holden parts...Such as steering and interior and engine parts..I have found this out the hard way by ordering American parts...I am still trying to find the Aussie "Experts"...If you know of any that know their stuff on the 64 Aussie BelAirs please let me know.
Hope this helps

Yeah its Aussie Delivered. As for the experts, it sure is hard to find people who know a lot about them.
I have been looking for a digital dash, but I am just not sure what family it comes from, so I will pull it out and get lots of photos and confirm before I drop any coin.
If only I had a Camaro, parts are easy and as for the experts... They are all here!

From what I have heard mate the dash is from a Pontiac Parisienne..it was done to cut costs on the RHD...not sure on this though, but you might find something out..All I know is that it is different to the yank dash..

Also I saw a heap of 64 NOS parts on eBay today.
'64 Bits on eBay (http://shop.ebay.com.au/merchant/duty_first_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZ) - I have a feeling these are yours though

All I know is that it is different to the yank dash..
It's a RHD version of the full size 61-62 Pontiac dash
2198
Nothing like a 63-64 Chev dash
2199

Some great info there :)
I don't want to step on anyones toes..but I just started a small forum to try and get together 64 Aussie delivered Bel Air owners..I find it really hard to find info/parts etc. on the Aussie cars, so if there are other 64 owners out there you are welcome to come join me :)

The 61 Canadian built.... cars .. started with the RHD version of the Pontiac Dash.. the end result was all South African, NZ, some UK & of course Aussie cars .. including locally assembled cars.. all had the same 1961 developed RHD dash used up to '64.
They also carried the Heavy Duty suspension....
In 1965.. they used the standard RHD version of the Chevy Belair dash.. right up to 68. but you must know .. to be carefull .. they are all fibreglass.. and the dash need grounding for the local cars.. unlike the imports which where metal LHD.
As far as clubs are concerned.. join the Chev Club of Victoria Inc.. big group. and a MASSIVE knowledge bank... google them.. they are also online somewhere.

Some great info! Thank you. I think my car started its restoration with the Chev Club of Vic, so maybe they might be able to help me with some of its history...hmmm
I am trying to get the army to repost me back to Brisbane at the moment, but there are some people in hidden places that don't seem to want me to leave Townsville...If I can get back to Brisbane at least I will be a bit closer to some other 64's :)

I joined the Chev club when I first bought my Belair...
I found them less than helpful... Stand offish even.
Highly doubt I will ever be a member again.

Yeah me too. I had my car roadworthy and historic reg with another club before joining them. Told me to go Chev club "red plates" events with them I would need to re-register the car with Vic roads via the Chev Car Club
RIGHT
Wouldnt bother with them
