"The 11th annual Independence Day Run is on Sunday, July 5. Organised by the Thunderbirds of Queensland,
this run is open to all American vehicles, hot rods and customs.

This year's cruise will be from Wacol to the Wivenhoe Dam Picnic Grounds, just north of Fernvale. The run
also took the same route last year, while in the past you might remember it going to Moogerah Dam near Boonah.

As we are seeking to build up both this and the November Yankee Doodle Run, this is a club run for us.
The Mustang Club is also making it a club run, and I believe some other clubs are also planning to participate.
In addition, it was advertised in Just Cars magazine, and many flyers were handed out at Wintersun. So we
could be in for quite a few cars this year!

Meet point is Viking Drive South at Wacol, which runs parallel to the Ipswich Motorway. If you're heading from
Brisbane, be careful of the roadworks alterations in this area. The Wacol exit has been frequently changing.

You need to take the Progress Road exit, as the Campbell Avenue exit is off the service road.

From the Logan Motorway, the Boundary Road exit will take you up the road from the bottom of this map, and
you then head across to Viking Drive.

Meet time is 9am for a 9.30 departure. From here we head up to Dinmore, then take the Warrego Highway to
Blacksoil, where we merge right and head up the Brisbane Valley Highway.

We will have a morning tea stop at Fernvale, before the short leg to Cormorant Park, a right turn
just before the Highway crosses the Wivenhoe Dam wall.

This park has a circular road around it, with plenty of parking. Shelters and BBQ's are on site, so it is
ideal to bring a picnic lunch. Alternatively, you can pick up something to eat in Fernvale. "
