Received from Chris PCCQ - CRIUSE UP TO TOOWOOMBA THIS SUNDAY
"........But the purpose of this newsletter is for next weekend's run to Toowoomba. The focus of this is the
'David Hack Meet', a combined carshow and airshow held at the Toowoomba airport. This was a very
popular run with members last year, and early indications are that we will also get a lot of participation
this year.
The Meet is unique among shows as the airshow happens adjacent, and there is also a very wide
variety of other displays including military vehicles, exotic cars, racing cars, commercial vehicles
and aviation.
Being located in Toowoomba, you will also see a lot of vehicles from that area. Quite a few clubs
will also be making the trip up from Brisbane. There should be around 400 cars on site.
The club tent will also be making the trip, although the Aerotec Hanger and its displays will be another
place in the shade. Catering will also be on site.
The planes will be the big attraction, parked and operating just next to us. Joyflights will be available from a number of
operators, for a range of fees. A few members took the opportunity last year for an aerial view of the show, bring your
credit card along if you want to do the same.
Meet place and time for this run is the BP at Blacksoil on the Warrego Highway north of Ipswich, from 7.30am, this
Sunday the 3rd of May.
Feel free to invite any other classic car owners along, to join our cruise to the event.
We need to leave at 8am sharp to be at the show by 9am, so don't aim to be there at 8am - allow for delays and aim for 7.30.
If you arrive late, continue through to catch up to us.
If you want to meet us along the way, just find a suitable spot along the Highway after 8am and wait for us to show up.
The club run phone (0438 700 607) will be on for advice on where we are located.
At Toowoomba, head through town using the Warrego Highway (ie. turn left at the top of the range), which bypasses
the city centre. You head south, then west, then north. On this last leg, turn left at Taylor Street and head west to
Greenwattle Street, turn right. Head to the end, turn left into Mutze and left into Spitfire and you're there.
