Only damaged the block, crank n rods, everything is alright other than that.
Already got Scat rods, 2 bolt block in the shed and have lined up a new scat crank.
goin down to Applied Automotive in the morning to drop my block off, and get everything balanced.
Does anyone know of a good bolt on pickup for a 350? i have seen the jegs brackets like this one
1525
i would like something better was thinking of the pre welded Moroso but i dont know if there any good.
any feed back would be much appreciated cos i am not having the pickup part with the oil pump again:mad:

I use a MELLINGS HP pump and pickup in the 406 sbc, and it does not and has not missed a beat, great oil pressure after run in, and when I get a leak it PISSES OUT real quick:D, like it is now.

What RPM did you have the limiter set at during burnout comps before Jamie ?. One good thing about BB's, you don't need high RPM, it's mostly bottom end torque - and lots of it :D
You should be all ready to go in time for the Burnout King event on good Friday as well. You game enough to enter with a new motor ?
WILD68

Thats what ive done all along,,, bang get it goin then straight out there.. lol.. never set the limiter..... sits on 7300ish then floats over that cos i only had outer springs in the victor jr's with dampers cos they were too heavy, all good now:D plan is 4 burnout king but:D :D you entering? gonna set limiter 4 7000 THATS IT?! No limiter in burnout comps is just asking for trouble Jamie  Undecided about entering yet, as i'm actually leading the points series for the Fast Friday drag meets and the final round is only a week after the burnout comp and not sure yet if i want to risk damaging something and then not being able to race the following week. Will wait and see after tonites meet, if i do well and go a few rounds and extend my lead i may risk it - can alway's race the '57 in the final round ;)

Got my engine in tonight.. had to wait to get new sump modified by my mate with a tig over the weekend.. Noticed my grill was cracked and the head lights have never lined up so pulled it all apart to fix it, wasnt as easy as i thought though (screws n nuts hidden everywhere). Goin to glue up the grill cos i dont have the 200 plus for a new one..
I decided to paint my extractors too cos they are rusting.. has anyone had good results with VHT flameproof paint.. gonna go aluminium finish.. if they have it..
Had the level on there but just need to roll the engine in the mounts hopefully.

Yeah mate got it running at about 9 ... couldnt run it too long cos its too loud but it sounds sweet.. seems to me that it is more responsive with the scat crank being is that it is a fair bit smaller and lighter than the other piece of crap i had in there... got a permit to drive it around, only gonna go down to my work in forrestfield and run it there.. probably trailer it there but because the neighbours will spit it.. cant wait:D :D

Took it for a drive down to Byford today (about and 80km round trip) and had a blast, although i have an oil leak from the sump all is good now.. It was popping a bit on the way down there, found that cos i tweaked the timing a bit as we left the Dizzy cap hold down screw (MSD) surround was rubbing on the bloody firewall and '****ed' the cap over and the rotor was rubbing on the inside of the cap. Fixed that and just fries the tyres..
Also took it 4 a drive yesterday and my wheels started rubbing pretty severe.. Jacked it up and found on the left hand rear spring front bush bracket only had 1 frigging bolt in it and and the right had 2 out of three but all were loose... could have been very very embarrasing! the bloke my old man had do a bit of work when he had it put em in.. Drives like a total different car!

I know it's not a nice thing to say, but it's good to hear i'm not the only one losing bolts while driving :o . I lost 2 bellhousing bolts on the passenger side while driving home from the drags recently. A 3mm gap between the block and gearbox makes for one hell of a vibration while driving  It's happened to me twice now. Now fixed with Loctite ;)

Yeah i said it was 4 repairs.. if the coppers gave me hassle i would have called my mate and he would have backed me up that it was goin to his house for exhaust;) ...

Quick question.. what is considered over tight?
I went to work out why the Mustang was leaking oil everywhere and the sump bolts were basically finger tight as far as I can tell..
I tightened them all up (bar two i couldnt get to) and no leaks since.. but how do you tell if it is too tight

When the gasket splits and hangs out the side:o :o on a chev your only meant to do em up 7ftlbs and the 4 corner ones 10, suppose the fords would be the same.. problem with mine was that i used Loctite black maxx sealant and Felpro recommend that if you use it to tighten em finger tight, wait for the sealant to cure then torque em down otherwise the sealant squeezes out and pushes the gasket with it.. oh well ya learn stuff all the time, only bad thing is that it is always the hard way:p

Went down the drags tonight..
Ran a 11.61 at 117 mph which i was stoked with, only got one run though, got told off by the ANDRA official cos now i need a Tailshaft loop and battery isolator to pass cos i ran quicker than 11.99. i didnt even know that.
Then the oil pressure guage decided to stop playin the game so i didnt end up doin a skid.. I dont think Auto meter are too flash, i had a Temp guage crap itself too..
Fisrt run down the drag strip in about 3 or 4 years and cut a 0.061 reaction which i was pretty stoked with.

Jamie, I was told the same thing.
I was told to avoid them as the increases in stiffness can cause additional wear else where
I think it also depends on where it is used and the type of urethane used
Urethane bushes dont allow a lot of deflection, so for things like castor rods (camaros dont have these do they) it can be a problem as the castor rod is under more stress during bumps etc (they can break)
For suspension pivot points, they will put more feedback into the chassis (read vibration) same goes for engine mounts.
I went to get rubber all round but actually couldnt get it on one part.. so ended up with poly everywhere to keep it uniform. (none of it is installed yet)
