Has any one used this stuff before? From what I hear its good **** and is up there with K&H C-guard. Basicaly I want to do the under carrige and boot of my new project and as mentioned in other threads I do not want to take any short cuts this time around. I have had a look around some auto retailers in my area and no one seems to sell the stuff, does any one know where to get it from or can anyone recommend something better? What does every one think of C-guard also I have heard some pretty good things about that too and read that some people on this forum have used it them selves?

Any help appreciated.

Steve.

I have used POR 15 on my 68 2 coats inside, underneath behind all panels
It goes a long way I only used 3 litres to do everything.

It seems very good but it is all down to preparation, you need to spray a product called metal ready on first and then paint the POR on when it has been rinsed and dried. You can't use it where it is in direct sunlight as it goes milky unless you paint over it.

Go to their website and have a look it is very impressive

Excellent stuff. Sticky as.

http://www.ppc.au.com/

or

http://www.kbs-coatings.com.au/

KBS is made in Oz. Same type of paint, but you can also get a few colors, and they have a satin black.

Have used both. Both as good as each other.

Need to use in very well ventilated areas.

Excellent feed back. So fare I sat in my boot all sunday and rubbed it all back. Was not to rusty at all mainly surface rust and pitting at the most. I have rubbed the hole boot back with 80grit then 220grit then 400grit. Where ever there was surface rust or pitting I stripped to bare metal and applied rust remover over it. Is this enough prep work or should I be doing more?
Also I have been to places like super cheap, robbos, american autos etc.. and they dont not sell POR-15. Would my best bet be a automotive paint stoore?

Probably would be. Got mine from Paint Supplies in SA. They sell all sorts of paint and have a large selection of car related products. It is good stuff

Steve,

Andy's restorations in Taren point can hook you up with the POR-15. C Gaurd can be had from any where really but if your heading out my way to get POR 15 off Andy there is Triken in caringbah and miranda ;) They are automotive paint wholesalers :)

If you buy the POR15 when you are using it pour a little from the can and then cover the top of the can with glad wrap before you put the lid on otherwise you will never get the lid off again.

Only pour enough at a time that you will use as you can't put any leftovers back in the can

always wear rubber gloves as if you get any on your hands it is there for a long time believe me I have had it on my hands for 6 weeks after using it !!!

When you buy it ask for a brochure all of this info is in it and I bought 1 litre at a time with 1 litre of "metal ready" and a cheap spray bottle for the "metal ready" POR 15 goes a long way and the best results are brushed on the brush marks dry out.
