Bumped for Jay.
Jay, the water pump pulley is 2" (an actual 1-15/16") overall height when laid flat.
I can measure back-space from inner pump flange to belt centerline if you want. :)

A big block lower pulley is different to a small block pulley. A big block pulley wont fit a small block because the centre hole is bigger and it wont sit flush on the balancer.

Googling several (unofficial) sources say this pulley was used on both SB & BB. All long pump applications.
The flanged hole in the center of this crank pulley is only 1-1/8" diameter. I couldn't imagine SB balancers have a smaller hole given that their crank bolt washers are 1-3/4" in diameter. :)

Big Block definatley has a larger hole in the middle and that helps to centre the pulley as well, if you use a small block pulley on a big block it can be put a bit off when lined up only using the three bolts.
Just went and measured two pulleys the
Big Block long water pump three row pulley has a 2" hole in it.
Small Block pulley has 1 1/8 hole.
I think that a small block balancer retainer bolt retains the pulley as well where a big block goes between the pulley and the balancer.
If I get a chance tomorrow I will take a photo of both and post it.

Cool, thanks.. :)
For what it's worth, worked fine on my BBC for many years. The three pulley retaining bolts seemed to do a fine job in centralizing it as it was never eccentric.
Not optimum, but no problem.

Thats cool but that still doesnt make the bottom pulley a BBC one.

Steve you know what ,the small block one I measured is on my Big block and has been for 10 years or more. I was mainly saying a big block one wont fit a small block as the lip to centre it will not let the pulley seat properly. I am also on the look out for a pair of pulleys like Zoops or March for a short pump as we speak.
Its about time I changed to the correct pulleys.

The pulley that's on my BBC now is the correct L78 one according to the correct numbers and from memory, does have a larger inner hole that we're talking about.
Apart from that, it's identical to the one I have here, albiet an SBC one. :)
It was on the BBC in the Camaro when I bought it in 1992.

Do you still have the triple groove lower pulley? I need one for my AC installation.
