Hello gents,

Wondering if anyone has a decent usable booster as I just picked up a set of disc breaks and calipers...

I believe that the master cylinder I have which was for drum/drum is slightly different that one required for drum/disc so I may require one of those aswell..

Dose anyone know if the master cylinder I have will suit..???

Thanks guys..

I know a guy who has a Delco Moraine 11" booster, master (not sure of the number or bore dia.) and metering valve assembly (for fr disc/rr drum) to suit reconditioning.. If you are interested, I can contact him for you. He is in country Victoria.

Hi JP, I'd be intersted in the outcome if you go new. My '67 is littered with Holden parts, including PBR master boasting "Made in Australia" embossing... Nothing wrong with that normally, but seems out of place next to 454ci of Amercian cast iron :)

A full 1.5 weeks into having my car arrived & on the road, I can add brake dramas to the list (along with broken diff, blown radiator & so many more others, I chose not to recall).

There is a load hissing noise coming from where the brake pedal goes through the firewall to the booster, oh, and I have virtually no brakes (requires 2 feet on the pedal & down shoft to stop). The hiss goes away & engine retuns to (lower) normal reves when I squeeze the boot, so may just be a part replcement -Can't tell though. Will take to brake joint & hope they don't rape me I guess.

Anyhoo.. if needs major effort, am considering replacing the whole lot with something trick (but still affordable - Willwood is awesome, but out of my league).

Any thoughts on the brake issue welcome, including input on ebay items like these. Cheers! Deano

Hey Deano,
I'd be carefull of generic ebay items like that. They're perfect if you're building something custom and you're happy to set up the whole system to suit but you may find it just causes more headaches trying to retro fit it to your camaro. That's not to say it can't be done if it's what you want, but do the homework first.
Have you had a look at some of the repro stuff from places like Rick's First Gen? Prices vary depending on how original you want it to be. The beauty of this stuff is it's brand new and designed to fit right up and work.

From what you've said it sounds like a vacuum leak. Might be worth having a good look around to see if you can locate it. Have you checked the vacuum connection?
Are there any other brake issues like fluid leaks, siezed calipers, kinked lines or faulty drum cylinders. I'd be giving it a good look over before you resort to taking it to any brake places. You may find your brakes not working is just a vacuum leak or it may be a combination of other problems aswell. Either way, all is fixable and if you do decide to get someone else to fix it atleast you'll have a better idea of what could be wrong which may reduce the pain when you get bent over. If not, BYO vaseline :D :D

Oops - Looks like I'm hijacking this thread, sorry JP :D Every single component of the braking sstem is brand new other than the booster & master (the latter was replaced though). The vacuum line from carb to booster is fine, is a vacuum leak from the pedal->booster feed, like the rubber boot in the firewall or something (it stops when I squeeze). My manual does not have an exploded view of what's down there, only master cylinder.

I'm also very cautious about anything 'generic' (&chrome) from ebay.. Was more wondering if any good-news stories... rather than vaseline-realted ones :p

Sounds like the diaphram in the booster has sprung a leak in that case.... If it's coming through the boot in the firewall?
