For sale is my used 3" exhaust system out of my stock chassis & suspension 1969 Camaro.

The headers are HPC-coated mild steel. They have flanges laser-cut to suit Edelbrock alum head "Rectoval" exh ports. Primary diameters are 1 7/8" for 10", then stepping to 2" for a total of ~34" into F1/Indy-style stainless steel merge collectors.

Most importantly, these headers (mainly the right one) is designed around a (good) RHD conversion using a RHD Saginaw 800 series power steering box. (Australian delivery Pontiacs used these and they are an exact mirror opposite to the stock Camaro PS box.) You should also be OK with any rack & pinion conversion.

The HPC ceramic coating has burnt off in a few places and will either need recoating or painting. (VHT hi-temp painting is recomended.) HPC/JetHot standard coatings are rated at 1300F. Typical exhaust temps are around 1350F.. Go figure as to why they bother with this stuff in the first place.
If you insist on ceramic coatings, I suggest paying for the 2000F stuff.

The system from the collectors back, is all 3" stainless steel mandrel bend with X-pipe.

Mufflers are custom length Black Mamba triple-core by David Wale. Many V8Supercar teams use his mufflers. These are glass-packed and free flowing.
If you are interested in a nice, quiet, legal system, stop reading here. This system was obviously built with performace in mind.
In fact, ET at Calder with system fitted was 11.49 @122. With system disconnected/removed.. 11.65@122. Yes, slower.

http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/2739/exhaust006re7.th.jpg (http://img165.imageshack.us/my.php?image=exhaust006re7.jpg)

The system is assembled using 4 V-Band clamps. No gaskets and no 3 rusty-bolt flanges here.
Entire center section is removed with one 7/16 deep socket in 5 minutes for transmission removal or whatever.

This it what it sounds like..

Oh, price.. Um.. it cost me a lot to build. You can do your own math, but I'd be happy with 2 grand.

Component prices then..
Mufflers $900 pair.
Laser-cut flanges $75 pair.
Merge collectors $800 pair.
V-band clamps $500 for 4.
HPC coating was then $360.
Sub total.. $2635.
Then you can guess materials and labor on top.

Sounds like a bit of a bargain for someone. They were talking 1500 to 2000 to just get extractors custom made when I was at that stage. Nice vids. Those poor tyres. :D

why the sale? You going to a small block? Do you want to sell the valve covers? How do you go for clearance with those valve covers and the wiper motor?

I'm selling the exhaust because I am updating it for several reasons..

I want stainless headers which will now be stepped from 1 7/8" - 2" - 2 1/8" into Burns Stainless merge collectors using megaphone & reverse cones. These do make some additional power.
I'm not using a HPC/JetHot ceramic coating because I think the stuff is over-rated in it's performance, as well as how much temperature it can withstand.

http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/9679/exhaust001kn3.th.jpg (http://img355.imageshack.us/my.php?image=exhaust001kn3.jpg) http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/3619/exhaust002rv3.th.jpg (http://img355.imageshack.us/my.php?image=exhaust002rv3.jpg)

Looking at where the coating had burnt off on my headers (see first post), someone said "yeah, but you've done burnouts and had this car on a dyno!"
No **** Sherlock! Of course I have, that's what we do with these cars!!

Burns also did the math on my power and said I needed to use a 3 1/2" system also.. It surprised me that the 3" wasn't going to be big enough..
So, 3 1/2" it will be and it will be as close to an OE design/layout as possible with exception of the diameter of course.. Using all OE exhaust hangers and have Dave at Black Mamba make me a transverse muffler as well as another pair of Triple-cores too.

For where the tail pipes come through between the rear 1/4 and leaf springs, 3" is tight enough.. So, for the 3 1/2" system, I have round-to-oval transitions and oval tubing, so the width is only 2 3/8".. Easy!. Damn expensive though..

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/5783/exhausthh9.th.jpg (http://img338.imageshack.us/my.php?image=exhausthh9.jpg)

In the box is also O2 sensor flanged bungs, thermocouple bungs, beehive springs and hooks to keep the collector onto the primaries and
3 1/2" V-band clamps.

I'll be the first to admit that much of what I am doing is "wank-value", but I want a state-of the-art system and I'm having fun with it..:D

Also.. No the valve covers are not for sale, but call Amcap in Perth. They brought these in for me for less than what I could get them for from Scoggin Dickey or Goodwrench. There may be more suppliers of them now.. These covers were originally black. I bought them before they released the powder coated Chevy Orange ones. So, I had to paint these..

They just clear the OE wiper motor. However, if the covers are to come off, the motor does too. My brake booster is a 7" diameter, so there is loads of room there at least.

However..

If I get offered what I'm asking for the complete system, he'll just have to miss out.
