Yeah Nev i'll be racing. At the last meet i just made a quick and easy adjustment to the throttle cable bracket so that the butterfly's dont fully open and i also lowered my shift light to 5800 and ran a couple of 11:50's and an 11:47 on an 11:40 dial in for the 1st round win. A fried alternator ended my fun when it would'nt start for the 2nd round of eliminations :mad:

no need for a cage at the moment as long as i continue to behave myself ;)

MT 26x8.5's they were in the quokka few weeks back got the lot rims and new tyres $1450 he did have 1800 on them so they were too good not to grab

Got a bargain with that lot. Cost just over a grand for a new set of those slicks alone. Same size as i use, you'll have no problems with traction.

Marty was doing well and running strong and there was a Green 69 twin turbo beastie that was also doing well. The twins were mounted in the boot :eek:

With a Fast Friday last week and the test n tune coming up on wednesday for the WesterNationals on the weekend there really should'nt be any Licensing allowed at an event like the Nostalgia's.

That green 69 with the turbo's in the boot was just insane, check it out.....

Tough call really. Its 200 mostly street cars does it deserve a two day meet when they get thru a fast friday in a night?

It is supposedly a "Nostalgia" meet not a pre 78 street meet so the drag cars should be there imho. If the only way to get a few more there is a licensing opportunity or practice for the western nats so be it. The track is never going to be great for these guys with so many street cars running. If anything it would be nice to see street cars capped and try to get more real period drag cars there.

Agree, but with a test and tune on Wednesday, I think the licensing could have been done then. Solo passes for licensing 7 or 8 cars who need to do 3 passes each, it just got a lot of peoples backs up considering the high cost to enter this event, with many entrants only getting one qualifier before eliminations started. (I know Neville, Tyrone and the boys were flat out in the scrutineering shed all morning)

I too would like to see more of the older dragsters there. I know there are a few in Perth that didn't come, but to use the day to purely licence or test and to have some priority given to them I think mars the whole atmosphere of the day. I fully understand their frustrations. So many that raced on the weekend are first timers or only race at this one event. It is a major event in the nostalgia world, and so many couldn't understand the reasons behind the licensing etc and really didn't care, they Paid over $100 to race this one day and they spent so much time waiting around for these licensing or testing solos.
But this is the price you pay running as an Andra sanctioned event and with the Nationals the following weekend, the prospect of the Test'n'tune being rained out, the opportunity was there for these guys to grab as much track time as possible.

Maybe next year the organisers might look at dropping the price to Drag Day only price without all the compulsory membership costs.

Aside from that, it was a great day, was good to see so many different cars. Even the spectators put in a descent appearance. We were knocked out in the second round, but thats racing. I will have about 300+ pics up on the website Wednesday/Thursday.

its actually kontorinis. that car has run 9.70 with 1 huge single turbo that was mounted under the rear of the car.. he took all the cage and stuff out and has been drivin it as a street car..because his andra license had elapsed he was limited to run NO quicker than 12.00's they said

Mitch, the first video above is my 1st round elimination, dialled in at 11.20 against the Buick with a 17.00. Waiting 5.8 seconds at the line felt like an eternity, all i was thinking was don't red light

The second video is 2nd round elimination, dialled in 11.20 again against an 11.80 dial in. Ran 11.50 @ 103.21mph for the win backing off to avoid a break out. On this pass i actually got a new PB for 60' time, ran a 1.58 without full throttle compared to a 1.60 on my 10.94 pass with full throttle, go figure :confused:

I raced against 1TUFF69 in qualifying, very nice car, he runs a 383 stroker with nitrous. We were side by side until 3/4 track, he finished with an 11.04 against my 11.41. I think i got him worried a little when i mentioned to him after the race that he had run a 6.99 to half track which is the same as running a 10second pass and if the ANDRA officials had of been on the ball he would of got the lecture about a roll cage.

Would of been a good race to watch seeing 2 1st gens going side by side down the track, anyone get any video of it ?
