Hey guys,
I feel a little guilty posting this under 'Build Ups'.. barely seems worthy of the stunning 'from scratch' projects it's keeping company with here :)
But as a newbie here (& the world of forums in general) I wasn't sure where else to lob it in response to a couple of members requests. :o Anyhoo that's enough advance back-peddling!
Basically I've had a life-long dream to own a tough muscle car, and the Gen1 Camaro shape had me the whole way. So when one came up that had heaps of good stuff done already, but room for my own ideas & personalisation (and within my very tight budget) it was meant to be!
She's up in QLD getting the 454 put back in after 18months out of the car - it was very temporarily replaced with some other high-rise bigblock that's long sold. I fly up (from Melb) again early December to see/hear/drive the finished product and CAN'T WAIT! :D
The 454 has a mild cam, stainless valves, new Holley 3310, custom 2.5" system, elec ignition etc. Just an open 10-bolt and TH350 (checked & kitted last week), but should be fine up to 500hp? And I'm a ways off that.. for now! Heheh... But I'm getting a few goodies on now like a PWR radiator and replacing the clapped-out front brakes with some new stuff on drop-spindles.
The panel-work is great and the fresh blood-orange paint more than good enough for a steet car. It's one of the only ones I've seem with a metal rear-spoiler (fine by me! This is no original matching-number museum piece.. It's RHS for starters!) The interior is standard & will get some attention in time, but there are lots of new parts already on the car like glass, bumpers, lenses, winders, dashpad, visors etc etc.
So here's kinda where we're up to so far:

(If there's a better way to insert pix lemme know!)
Lots of future plans heading in the the Pro-Touring-style rattling around in my brain, but for now it's a brilliant start to a very mild modification build that I can chip away at each payday ;)
See you guys round the traps! Deano
