Been meaning to post this up for a while now after having spoken to a few of you via pms & phone in purchasing gear.
The shell came from a member here, jross of Mt Isa a few months ago. Was a tragic tale. John was replacing the dash after not being happy with a previously done RHD conversion. Probably welding slag in the carpet, the car ended up on fire just as john went out of the shed.
I hope you don't mind me posting the fire damaged pics John, I think the pain has eased now your new one is near up and running. (let me know if you want me to pull them off)

John kept all the running gear including the fresh big block to rebuild for his new one.
After being cooked, he hit it with a dose of kill rust to protect the bare metal as much as possible.
This is as I picked it up.

Pretty well straight away, I stripped it down further and had it media blasted.

Then hit it with a coat of primer,

The end result is it's bad, but not completely stuffed. The roof is buckled badly from the heat and needs a full replacement & so does the floor after being patched up many times over it's 40 odd year life. Also a fair bit of panel work needed in the rear qtrs. Rust is minimal, it's had a couple of good repairs done recently, like the inner & outer rocker panels etc If too stuffed, plan b was build it as bare bones drag car.
It does have a few redeeming features, in that it's been previously registered and complied in qld as RHD. It also hasn't gone through the written off vehicle register as there was no insurance claim on it. So basically when ?? rego time comes, aside from any mods it basically just needs a general RWC.
As a bonus it also came with the original warranty and service manuals. The service records have a metal stamp of the vin with it, like an old fashioned credit card imprint. There was also a heap of other import/export paperwork. It was first sold in Miami, then spent it's life in Puerto Rico before coming over here as a private import with a Harley and other household effects in 2000. The guy was probably a diplomat or drug barron or something, google hasn't found out which yet. :) This owner had the RHD conversion done in Victoria. John got a few yrs after that.

Other than that, I haven't done much with it. Been playing with my boats a fair bit and presently have it under a cover in the carport as I build a new shed soon. It's a long term project, so don't hold your breath. I'm also not too fussy on it being particularly original. The vin indicates it was originally a 6, so it isn't a rare, or special that needs to be preserved. I'll be happy with a good mix of bits that are functional and look good.
Have a bit of time off over xmas, so will slip into replacing the floor and some mini tubs in it. The firewall & dash area are pretty messy after a bodgy rhd conversion, so I'd like to sheet over or replace most of it into the smooth style.
This recent drop in the exchange rate has been a blow. I had a shopping list ready, but am now just sitting on it.
Project Hell fire would be a good name, but Chris has taken that one. lol
