Hi All,

Im looking at a new engine for the 67. Its a genuine 350 small block car so thinking of leaving it that way. Done a fair bit of research but want a first hand opinion. Would you recommend local builder or import from states? Pros and Cons of each? any good turn key/crate engines out there. Will spend a bit depends on engine.

Thanks,
Dan.

One disadvantage of importing from the US, or anywhere, is warranty. There virtually is none. So there would need to be a large price difference to take the risk on an imported engine. Then there is shipping method, speed of shipping, depends whether you are in a hurry or not.

Re local plenty of info in Just Parts magazine, or Street Machine etc.

USA Automotives is on this forum, they can no doubt do a well supported and good deal on an SBC short or crate.

Am sure the Melbourne guys know of good builders with solid reputations.

Then there is an LSX conversion, depending how adventurous you are.

Cheers.

Thanks RSZ28. We at U.S.Automotives can certainly help in the way of a crate motor. We were supplying Shafiroff engines but as my prices were going up and up and almost getting quoted more than a retail customer, we have pulled the pin from that distributorship.

Depending on what horsepower you would like, carb or efi, we are now Distributors for Blueprint Engines. SB Chevys starting from $7,781.00 inc. GST, complete motor! Our website will be updated in the next few days with the entire range of Blueprint Engines. We also cater for those who just require short or long engines.

If you buy a GMPP crate engine through a dealer like Eagle Spares, Albury Speed or Amcap (in Perth), they should back up the factory warranty.
Make some enquiries with them.
..and I'm sure there are other dealers to choose from as well.

Had a few on order for customers, but was told my discount was removed as they can no longer discount the engines..... So, I looked elsewhere and have found Blueprint Engines, and as soon as the other deal happens, I'll let you know.
