im looking at converting my 74 2nd gen camaro to manual gearbox when i put the new motor in. maybe a supra 5 speed? the engine im planing on building should hopefully end up around 450-500hp for a small block. Im not to sure what sort of advantages and disadvantages thare are with doing so and if its a good idea? compared to runing a t350 or 400 auto. Im open to all feedback and advise.
thanks.

Supra 5 speed are not that strong in my limited experience. I had a friend who had one behind a mild 308 in a HJ, and he broke it.
If you're seriously going to make 500hp, look at getting a Richmond, otherwise, I would have thought a Borg Warner T5 would be a better choice. (V8 doner of course)

yeah ive done a bit more reserch since posting this thread and ive spoken to a few other people, il defenatly be staying away from a supra box coz they brake very easy and go for a t5 or evan a t56. i found a place in the states that converts a tremec t56 6speed to fit early model chevs with a few slight modifications, would be good for something different.
check this out.
