Does anyone have any information on drop spindles for the 1st Gen Camaro. Is it worth doing or stick with lowering the springs. How much in dollars etc.

I got a set of these in a disc brake kit. By themselves they are $249.00 ($US)

Can't say how it looks yet as i don't have the motor in, and I also went some lowered springs.. I think i explained what I got in a post somewhere on here (in my build thread I think)

The downside I have heard is that the outer tie-rod ends can interfere with the wheels and/or tires depending on your backspacing and wheel/tire width and diameter.
Most drop spindles are not regular 1st Gen Camaro spindles with the stub axle an inch or two higher up.
If memory serves, they have been using stock 2nd Gen Camaro spindles. Note the non-removable steering arm that is part of the forging.

Shop around.
The spindles in this kit from Eckler's appear to be "correct" 1st Gen drop spindles that accept stock steering arms and caliper brackets..

I can confirm this with drop spindles that I got for an EJ. The standard 15in rims would hit the tie rod end. I wa told to space the stearing arm away from the wheel or run a minimum of 17in rims

Have a look at:

David Pozzi is a long time respected commentator on Camaro suspensions and a mod on camaros.net - Team Camaro.
I came to the conclusion that if I wanted to stick with stock arms, that the new forged "aluminum" ATS stub axles would be best for handling and brakes...but they are not cheap, so I am sticking with trimming the springs and then may try the "Guldstrand" mod....for now...

I have the 2" drop spindles from CPP and obviously have no outer tie rod clearance issues with the 4" wide convo's and 185 tyres, but i have about 5-8mm clearance with 15 x 7 camaro 5 slot rims with 235/60 tyres. So it definately depends on the offset of the rims and the width of your tyres that will give you problems or not.
If your going for adjustable coil overs on the front like i have you dont really need drop spindles in my opinion. my car actually sits way too low with the springs wound down as far as they can go - about 50-60mm clearance between the road and the lowest point which is the deep gearbox oil pan

What make of coil overs are they? Are they a straightforward bolt in deal?

QA1's, yep bolt in deal. would'nt call it straightforward though as they were a bastard to get in. Only had to drill the holes slightly bigger in the stock lower control arm to fit the bolts that came with them
