A few photos from a show at Port Adelaide to get support for a motor sport complex including a drag strip to be constructed at Port Adelaide. It was well attended with the temp rising to 40 degrees. The Mayor of Port Adelaide showed his support as well as the local MP. Fingers crossed.

This would be terrific. Where would they put it? Down alongside the trunkway on the way to Torrens island?
About 300 years ago I raced regularly on street days at AIR. What happended to close it?

They are considering a few sites but from what Ive heard I think the most likely is Garden Island. Would be a top spot for it. I think theres been no drag racing at AIR because Bob Jane doesnt want to spend any money on it and there was something about a court case. Not sure on the details.
We're starved for it here though

Yep I heard that too. Last week I was in the speed shop and the owner was talking to a guy who just resurfaced AIR. Left the holes there for the timing lights. Apparently theyre having racing for nothing quicker than 10.00. He didnt have a date for drag racing but it was this year. :) YAY

Does anyone know if the is any more news on AIR?
I was thinking it might be nice to be able to try my car out legally once it is finished.

Something might finally be happening! Not with a new strip, but AIR has a new web site. www.adelaideraceway.com.au . Everything says coming soon but at least its something. Have an entry form to download too. Yay 1213

It was supposed to be opened in Dec, but because the resurfaced track has lifted in areas we still dont know when.
I have even heard they are not letting anything faster than 10.9 or 10.00 run there.

Dave,
The site looks godo and shows some promise for something to happen in the not too distant future.
Not sure if I'll get into the 9 second club in the street series
WooHoo!!

Saw this over on the SMASA forum

I am a little sceptical (you get that after 10 years without a track :o ) but at least it might get some discussion going again.

Interesting read, they have certainly put a lot of thought into it. The company was registered in March 2010 but the document itself doesn't seem to be dated. Given all the press and conversation regarding Port Adelaide I'm surprised I have never heard of this before. Makes me wonder if any progress has been made over the last 11 months. Whatever the case something is better than nothing.
