Good work Shane,
I do know that whatever they sell via their distributors or retailers is not cheap but I reckon that if you just rocked up with a smile on your dial they'd probably sell direct.
gotta be a reasonable saving by cutting out the middle man.

Good work on the seats. :) It's a bugger of a job.
Your bases look good, but it still looks like you need to pull the backs in more to remove those ripples.
Does the inlay section have listings with "poly-cord" in them? I swapped the poly-cord with wire that the factory originaly used. I used ~3mm fencing wire. I hog-ringed it through to the rear if the cusions too. ;)

They have the poly cord, I took a gamble and not use the wire and you are right I should have used the wire. They are in the the car now and have settled down. I left them for several days and they sorted themselves out. Today I will take some more pics of the interior install and the new spoiler that I have installed.

Sunday, interior updates
1. Started doing minor stuff now, all the big things are done except for the rear seat.
2. NOTE FOR ALL, when ever doing your doors and replacing the handles I recommend pulling out your door locking mechanism and replacing one of the springs, which puts pressure on the door opening button from outside, stops sloppy or non returning button. My mechanism is original 67, used degreaser and WD 40 to return the whole unit to new again, and that also means looks wise as well.

Get a needle and feel your way around. The non-threaded and unused hole between the two 5/16" threads is almost exactly in the middle of the last and 2nd-to-last headliner bow.
They are at the same height as the coat hook screw and pin holes seen at the extreme left in this pic. ;)

As for the belt retainers, the front-most hole is about 3-1/2" behind the 1st bow...

Hi All
Another present arrived from the father christmas of camaros, heart beat ;)
So i now have a seat belt for STRAW HAT DRIVING and a seat belt for LIFT THE WHEELS FULL ON RACING ( in my head of course )
I spent around 2.5 hours and used Steves guide as reference for the bolt holes.
Please note on the 67 the bolt holes are a similar cut out but not in the same place, they are inline with the door ends as per photo, secondly there are bosses for the wire fingers but its a simple case of drill them yourself.
Please note also I have installed the clip holder as well to the roof, which finishes this off to a very luxurious look.
First Pictures Right Hand Side.

Thanks Nev and Steve, both of you are right read above:
The finger bosses are in the same spot but a different shape
The mounting points look similar but dont have the hole in the middle like the 69.
I peeled down the side of the headlining to find the holes as I gave up on the pins.
Steve are you sure you have the right holes? sure you are not using the rear sash mounting points?
The 67 mount points for the rear are the boot hinges, they actually have the bolt in place like the instructions say which is removed and the sash for the rear put in place, the buckle is then put on the holder which is mounted on the arm rests each side.

I questioned this Nev before I mounted it, thats the factory mount point.
Once you put the buckle onto the holder its very hard to removed, need to press the buckle button to release. :)

It might be that the holes are different like Nev says.. I thought they were the same, but your pics reveal that Nev is correct..
Yes, I am sure about the sash mounting location on mine.. The rear seat sash mounts are in the parcel shelf.
The buckles are mounted inboard with the latches on the roof, -same as laps.
However, I like the clips, and hope they keep those buckles securely in place when not in use. ;)
Just read your last post.. GM must have changed their buckle/latch configuration prior to 69. :)

What I think happened Steve is two things;
1. they revised the 67 seats to 68 with head rests, too many people getting whiplash
2. the revised the seat belts from 67 to 68 due to many drivers getting knocked out by flying bricks within the cabin  :D LOL

Thank you Nev.
As they said the conversion from the roof only had 1400 installations via GM Dealerships.
THe belt from the roof fits neatly over my 6"2" frame, and the lap belt fits as it should.
I not the bail fail warning, there is a modification sheet for the bail I will have to look at.
The attach ment to the rear door panel of the holder was one way of mounting the buckle, the second is where I have the mounting point now. It was such an after thought it was more an accessory or design addition rather than nessecary safety item.
The main issue with the mounting of the buckle on the rear is two fold:
1) entry into the rear seat is affected
2) when windows are down the dam thing flapps all the time.
For my install its a value add Nev, and I do appreciate the reference material, i was looking for something like that for ages.
All those pictures came from the instructions that I have on how to install, and they were sourced from GM.
As I am trying to keep the interior factory as much as possible, 67's was such a BASTARD year for camaros, with dealers doing their own things, GM having lots of recals and upgrades, and that is why the late 68 and 69 were the complete models. I like the 67 Cos it gets away with a lot of the rules that came out 68 onwards.
The seat belt config that I had previously was dam dangerous, where it was mounted to the pillar, kept falling off or due to my angle of seat position (std camaro) kept locking, even on deep breaths.
THe mistake a lot of people make when putting on the sash with recall is that they do not pull the belt out full length and adjust the buckle to suit the driver.
Nev the way I have mounted the buckle I would need to have a pretty serious accident for the buckle to leave the holder. I would have more concerns over it being in the back seat and getting hit from behind and then ending up with a buckle (brick) in the back of my head.
As they said "67 was a different year" hehe the REBEL YEAR, anything goes...

Yahoo, more parts in today, its been a busy week over 15 presents. This time parts to finish the door trims off, brack that the plastic buckets bolt to, and a fresh set of RS limiting switches and bracketry, to take my RS on for another 45 years.

finished the door trims last night or early this morning
Installed the boot lamp, glove box lamp, under the bonnet lamp, should have purchased two, anyway got two more coming, need to order an ash tray lamp.
The boot lamp I plugged into the loom with the classic part and the adaptor loom and the light is on all the time, its obviously meant to go out based out on its own when the boots shut. I am sure this has a mercury switch, maybe i have it upside down.

A mate of mine and a mutual friend of Chris C's is looking for one, I need one as well. Now that the motor has had time to settle in its running a tiny bit rich.

If the Holleys are boost referenced for blower use, it should be like tuning normally. Anyone with a dyno, or head to the track and make one change at a time that improves your mph.
If it's simply running rich and you don't care about ultimate power, lean it!

Steve thank you for your comments, it was dynoed without air filters and I have put restrictive little 2" ones on, in hind sight i may be the cause of the problem of being two rich.
Yes they are boost referenced 850 hp S series dipped in shinney stuff for less air resistance at full throttle.
I have a blower shop scoop arriving the filters are 4" tall and wider so this should lean out a tiny bit.
Its burning a sh*& load of fuel, more than i should, e.g a twenty min drive 30 1/4 to 2/4 ers of a tank. But then its hard to know if the tires are spinning or its over rich sometimes :)
Has anyone used a Holley Quick Fuel ezi EFI setup? its getting a lot of positive comments, I remember when this was first released with no support and now one really knew how to set it up, but now its progressed its a self learning setup, wether its a cam change, head work, ratio change it picks it up. I will do something about EFI hopefully mid next year.

Paul, I dont think anyone would be running that particular combo.. as its three different brands...
Holley would be Avenger, HP or Dominator EFI.. (I think Avenger and HP are self learning)
I dont think Quick Fuel do EFI at all
And EZI EFI is a FAST product...

hehe my mind is a little un co-ordinated at the moment; the one i was looking at was a throttle body, 4 injectors, huge wiring loom but its straight forward to install all the sensors.
I want to put the setup on the top of the blower, but i want a custom look about it; maybe a twin hilborn type setup with all the modern self learning, or using my new blower scoop turn it into an injected setup. Dont know yet, but i appreciate any advice you can offer.

Paul, I don't think a restrictive air filter/s would make any huge difference as a carb will add fuel proportionally to the amount of air entering. If there is less air due to a restriction, the venturi will simply add less fuel.
I would not expect the very slightly higher than otherwise manifold/blower-intake vacuum to pull out a noticeably more amount fuel. :)
Where is it rich?
I would simply reduce the main jet 2 sizes down or adjust your idle or both.

I hope you weren't intending on having a fuel efficient engine once you decided to fit the huffer, anyway blown engines are better off running a little rich especially carby fed as you don't want to lean out, detonation can kill an engine.
Exhaust sensors can show just how rich or lean an engine is running at full throttle thats where it counts, not when putting around the streets.
As for my blown engine, I am going to keep it for a rainey day.

Steve its rich down low from idle to 1500, I have dropped the idle from 12-1300 rpm to 900-1100 rpm, this seems to have helped.

Do you even see vacuum on a boosted motor ??
Vacuum gauge is the old school way of doing it...
To tune properly, should probably be done on the dyno.. but back yard tuning made easy would be O2 sensors as Jay stated..
If you're going injection they'll be required down the track anyway..
Bung or two in your headers + wide band O2 = Live AFR (Air Fuel Ratio)

Everyone of the regulars have a stake in my build as I would NOT have been able to DO THIS PARTIAL construction with out (they know who they are) their help. Bit hard to see but it's up next to the rear view mirror.

Doesn't obstruct our vision at all unless the screen is open and we leave it in there all the time.
It starts recording automatically and continually loops over the already copied data if you don't remove the SD card and get the data off it. It records in 15min segments and with a 16GB SD Card we get about 4hrs of recording before it starts again...

Thanks for the heads up Mitch, what a great idea, I never considered this technology as I still had a big dollar expectation in my head. Wow things have changed. Now I can show everyone our cruses, i purchased the one on the url and a video camera for 86 bucks.
There was a fantastic opportunity the other day, I was driving behind a police car for 20 mins, they kept hearing me coming as the female driver and passenger kept looking in their rear vision mirror to see what the noise was, I think, I passed them and they gave me a big smile and nod of the head. The car puts smiles on peoples faces. During one of those videos, an elderly couple pulled up behind me at High Street Road opposite David Jones, in their 80's, and the lady put her hand up to mouth and a big smile as she pointed at the car, she clapped her hands, her husband was smiling and the were pointing to various areas of the car, then the husband saw the something coming out of the bonnet and pointed to that.
A good muscle or restored classic will break down any generation gap..

Yeah Paul, alot cheaper than I expected. Arrived from China in about 3 days to. Just make sure you get a MICRO SD Card as I don't think it says that in the advert. 16GB is around $40 from JB HIFI etc.... nearly as much as the unit itself hahaha.

Hi All.
I have a Willwood duel cylinder master and I need it modified to suit an 8" or 9" duel diaphram booster.
I will post some pics later, but the piston needs modifying as it does not come down far enough.
Also looking for a new Booster, the 8" is not performing well enough and probably some larger front brakes, have 11" single piston types at the moment, needs to fit under 15" rims.
THIS IS THE MASTER CYLINDER I NEED MODIFIED, anyone got any ideas?

MORE NEW PARTS DELIVERED TODAY
I have made the decision to say bye bye to the B&M mega shifter and replace with a very cool LOKAR with a 12" Shaft and convert the original 67 Console back to standard. The knob at the end of the shifter has the TH400 pattern in it, a push button in the billet knob allows shifting into park and reverse. Sophisticated stuff.
This means I am after a Shifter insert for the console, the chromed up part that the shifter place bolts to as mine was modified to suit the other shifter.
LOKAR pedals arrived, decided to change the original pedal as I need to go to cable for safety reasons with the blower, so i picked up the brake pedal and park brake pad as well.
Some more hog rings arrived today and a deluxe set of pliers, a lot easier on the hand.

Paul, I dont see the mounts for your shifter.. but if its floor mount.. check the height before you go fixing up your console..
I dont know how it compares in height to the mustang console but I had to drop my shifter into the tunnel in order to fit the shifter body under the console..
With a 12' shaft I think you'll want to do that anyway, as floor mounted it stands quite tall.

There are various brackets in the box that mount to 4 holes, most likely need to find a bracket from an old GM shifter and drop it in.
I chose a bit taller as i find the std gm ones to low, i was tossing up between 8" or 12" (from top to bottom of brass nut) ended going longer with a narrower stem. :D
Its a really cool looking shifter, and with all the red in the interior, some billet items wont go astray.
The console has about 3 inches from hump to base plate.
Did you take any picks of your box you made?

Yeah, I got a 12" as well, for the same reason.. but felt it was too tall when mounted to the floor.. 10" would have been better..
I dont think the measurment includes the body, just the shaft.
No box, just a couple of brakets that Chris made for me..

Love that van, how cool is that.
With your master cylinder if I'm getting it right in what you mean, there are two types. If you have the short length piston (which I think is early style) you can simply make a spacer up( or wilwood probably have them) to convert it from short to long. It just fits into the piston.

Hi Ken I share the same feeling about the van, the engine bay looked in original paint whilst the outside had a a redo but some years ago I thought it must have come from someones collection. Never seen it before in mags or at Rod Runs, it was LHD so maybe a recent import. Those images are there because I said the same thing "how cool is that".
Yes the piston is a short piston, I wanted to find out the correct way of fixing the situation, I have heard of some real hacked up master cylinders by novices. I also want a better booster than the twin diaphram 8" to get a softer pedal, at the moment the pedal is hard.

I have been to this show a hand full of times, one of the biggest years was about 4 years ago at Yarra Glen RC. Why dont they ever give trophies to modified cars do you know?
Shane and Mitch (aka Matt :-) saw when I arrived the crowd that descended on my car, and amongst the first were two Judges, they were looking for correct paint colors. I often thought that maybe they are not educated on how to judge a Resto Mod, as we dont nessecarilly use original paint codes.

A judge or scrutineer walks past with another and passes a comment to their friend as they pass my display " look at the turbo on that car"

The Lions Club GM Day has always focused on originality. Whilst hot rods and resto-mods are welcome, they will not be judged with sympathy.
There is however a "Peoples Choice" award and as the name suggests, the peoples choice will win, original, hot rod or resto-mod.
Last years peoples choice winner was a mildly modified '56 Buick.
Lowered and not totally stock under the hood, so it does happen.

Thank you for your comments Mark as this has evolved its good to hear positive things.
Mark the whole car is legal except for everything above the top of the new bonnet. This camaro had to have full registration, so everything has been done properly to my knowledge at the time, there were times it sat in the garage for 5mths and nothing got done, and sometimes closer to a year, but its looking good now.

I am now up to the rear seats, which have taken most of the day and muscle to get together.
Decided to paint the frames and not send out to a rust remover, after a clean with solvent they were ready for a shot of black kill rust. Once dry I started putting on the foam. I have chosen a firm foam in between medium and hard, and 40mm thick.
BTW IF ANY ONE IS INTERESTED I HAVE 4 x BLACK STD 67 DOOR TRIMS FREE TO A GOOD HOME, GOOD FOR A DAILY DRIVER, AND HAS CAMARO DECAL PLATES ON THE FRONT TWO.

Got home early last night and tonight, with the motivation from the weekend getting the seats covered, I removed the black seat backs and put new red vynal on them, came up a treat. Prepared the rear seat area for installation tonight and it was rather straight forward, pictures to see from various angles.
Was advised today that my new console is on its way, yipee last thing to install. the original console melted the fibre glass or plastic surface, I will keep it as things have a habit of being repaired.

I tried for something different Jay, when you see it up close its a mixture of ol school road racer of years gone by with big steel scoops, with steel rims and white lettered tyres, whilst having an interior which is original in color but upgraded to deluxe.
I do like your image and many will, but its been done to death, at any time I can return the car to factory honest.

Have you found another car yet Jay, sounds like you are itching for a blank canvass to show us a build up Mate?
When ever I take to shows, we will be at the Manhatten on Sunday, the crowd is big around this car. It has a personality of its own, just like most that build here.

The interior is really looking the goods. Red in first gen Camaro interiors is an awesome looking combo.
I think the bigger cowl scoop is contributing to the fact that the law isn't paying too much of the negative attention towards you as the blower is hidden more. I say keep it that way.

Justin I tend to agree with you. Its so bright, and then the polished stainless fittings and chromed plastic fittings all adds to the appeal, the car actually looks more spacious inside that the black; another example of how color theory pushes or pulls.
Re the scoop Justin you have knocked the nail on the head.

Its very close Nev, I only purchased it as it had black in fills and only the leading edges are polished. They are hand made, so some of the mounting tabs have very questionable welding techniques, (steel).
I think its actually lifted the whole front of this car, and I am with you, I dont like the normal billit items. Very similar to the RS Sports Grill that was optioned but not plastic and the grill horizontal parts are thicker.
MADE IN CHINA> lol even has the QC stamp from each production line, instructions good, screws are cheap fine thread so I used the black screws supplied on the lower grill so they are hidden, and the orginal kit I purchased on the top part of the grill.

Thank you Dave and Steve, I just finished placing my order with Heartbeat for the kit. What i have found out is that I had the 68 ones on the car but the 67 came std with trims where it was an option on other cars except for SS/RS upgrade.
I have also ordered a new dash loom and various other looms that will mate up with the new console on its way, so I put together my LOKAR shifter today ready for assembly, will need to make up a plate for it over the coming week.
Also ordered some more rear parts to finish my conversion to multi leaf.

Hey Paul, with the rear shoulder belt you bought, is the push-button-buckle on the parce-shelf or floor mounted belt?
I thought it was supposed to be the latch on the upper parcel-shelf belt like my fronts (roof).
(Hmm, actually, I thinks 67s were differently configured. http://www.camaros.org/options.shtml#ShoulderHarness Yep, they were..)
Anyway, for interest, how are yours?

I thought it was supposed to be the latch on the upper parcel-shelf belt like my fronts (roof).
(Hmm, actually, I thinks 67s were differently configured. http://www.camaros.org/options.shtml#ShoulderHarness Yep, they were..)
Anyway, for interest, how are yours?
Both buckles in the rear are floor mounted in the original threads with factory bolts. Buckle/clip in the middle and D clip with hole in it to the outside.
Steve I did not purchase the rear shoulder belt as they did not have one for the 67 Coupe, during that year they offered the shoulder belt for the Convertable only and they mounted the anchor bolt to a hole in the boot hinge, then threaded it between the seat, and hung the buckle above the arm rest. I dont know how many did this as it fouled the arm rest area, that is why (no one has noticed yet) I went for the mini cranks, they were available as an option but not many people took them up. What would happen is the deluxe arm rest would wear on the top from the hand hitting the arm rest if used a lot.
Apparently people are fitting them under the impression that they were available for the coupe, but all my research says they were not and only for the convertable. They always make reference to the changes with 69 models.
That does not exclude that some dealerships were adding them, I have not read any proof of this happening though.
Same as my front seat second belt, the anchor mount is located half way between back seat and front, not like where yours is, the mounting point where my buckle could be in two places: be either where it is just in front of driver or passengers face up on the headlining, or down on the rear arm rest, they really did not have an idea, they were bringing products to a mass market with an amateurish like design process, which seems they would make the decision during a monday morning design meeting, and roll it out in the afternoon as a dealer or factory add on.
The 69 got all the best add-ons, but that is something you would expect for an end of run production vehicle. The only thing that I have added on that is not legitimate is the Astro Ventillation according to the books, But! some records that I have read show that they were a dealer add-on early in 67 but not from the factory, they were mostly black if added on then. So there is still a lot of clarity around the first gen. The other thing i have picked up Steve is that the different manufacturing plants also had different items they would put on or offer to dealers, wether they should have or not.

True, 67s never had rear shoulders available to them, -and the 2 holes on each side in the parcel shelf were not punched, but for some reason I thought you were adding them anyway -using a 68-69 set and drilling the 2 holes. :)

Besides.. I found this on CRG.. :)
"Rear shoulder belts
Rear shoulder belts were a rare option for 68 and 69 Camaros, with only 133 cars ordered with them in 68 and 115 cars in 69. The rear shoulder belts were installed the reverse of the front shoulder belts; the rear shoulder clip belt was attached to the floor whereas the front shoulder buckle belt was attached to the floor."

You and i were talking about it at one stage however I chose not to put any more holes in the metal than what the already has, I am actually going to repair some of the holes soon, i need to learn how to do this, especially the EX seat belt holes inside of the car.
I had the shoulder ones in before and the people that did the LO2 were butchers, so I need to repair the parcel shelf ones as well. They are not even level or in similar places, just a hole punch and wack.

Hello All, have not done much over the past weeks as I have had issues with daily driver the Adventra Wagon to attend to.
I am on the home stretch now; the OER console arrived this week along with a list of parts from Camaro Central and Heartbeat, more to come. I plan on rewiring the under dash so that everything factory hooks up that is still to arrive.
My first observation of this new after market console is very positive, its taken years for them to get the quality to this level where they can replace the original GM's.
The moulding is extremely good, the grain in the injection moulding is excellent when comparing it to my original item. The outer steel work is also great, although the original was triple chrome plated this does not seem as thick. All the original frame work underneath is true to the original so all the parts can be swapped over if you just need the shell.
The fur lining in the glove box matches the original for feel and where it starts and finishes.
My only complaint is that the steel bright work around the edge is a bit rough underneath, and during the dag removal stage someone has gone a bit heavy on the grinder leaving a slight dip around 90mm long. Comparing to the original console they were straight as a die, and the ends were sharp and smooth.
I had to assemble all the console which is easy peezy, except for the ash tray springs, hint put the springs in first and carefully drop the lid into the frame.
the Vynal covering has just been stuck on which stripped down the console again, and used 3M Adhesive to get nice sharp lines. This is the factory look, which looks great when in the car.
Oh also in the back ground is the original console with painted edges and all my LOKAR stuff.

Getting close now to the end of the interior install.
I spent nearly a whole day on the removal of the old shifter and installation of the new one, with lots of preparation work done.
Consoles mounting points lined up perfectly with the factory mounts on the floor.
Spent some time today going over the car replaced all the bumper bolts front and rear,
put the right fasteners on the spoiler as the ones supplied were nothing like the original.
Seat belt hangers for the front lap sash installed.
Did some bling work on the outside, lol black 8 Balls on the tyre valves and on the number plate mounting points.

I have just installed the same lokar shifter but with the 8inch shaft, it is so much better and easier than the old Hurst shifter that I replaced. I have changed the push button shift knob to the Knob adaptor kit and now just have a standard white shift knob which works great. Just adapting the console to fit the new set up along with the shifter lights and exhaust dump switch.

Hi Philip thank you for your comments.
What I did was instead of bolting to the top of the turrent I put the front legs underneath the car and the two furthest away in the car. This got the right angle and dropped the shifter down low enough that no mods are needed, even with my leather boot on.
So much easier to use than the ratchet shifters, smooth action and just any other auto shifter but with style.
I still might replace with an 8" but I am loving the 12" at the moment, it brings back memories of the manual Hurst which is about the same length.
Post some more pics of your car.

At 8.50pm 22nd Dec, I was leaving the local fuel station in the Camaro and I passed a police car that had pulled someone over, and of all places the horn started beeping. They jumped in the car spun around lights on, and pulled me over.
My heart was beating, how will i do the wedding tomorrow if I am defaulted i asked myself, still talking to myself i told myself to stay calm. The policeman was one of the nicest guys and he said to me that he only wanted to pull me over because the car was so nice, and as it happened he just purchased a mussie, so i gave him my card and offered him some advice on where to purchase parts.
Wish i had a pic thow, nothing was said about the blower. He had the same problem with his car, horn going on and off at its own choice.
I wish all my experiences with the law was this practical, and positive.

Yesterday we did a very loooong wedding over 7 hours and was probably the nicest wedding we have ever done; a Muslim Turkish wedding, the traditional wedding was new to me and George, including the traditional dress and Musicians, the groom had to walk to the home of the bride, ask the brothers of the bride and father permission to marry, one by one and a dance after each answer, then he has to ask permission to go inside by calling the bride. after that they went to a park for another 2 hours of proceedings, more food, then the celebrant, and off to pictures, Melbourne museum, Brighton beach, St Kilda pier, then back to Calder park for the reception, then we drove home.
Today a large box arrived with Wiring, suspension stuff, my wheel trims and much more details stuff for the inside. Another project I have on the go is a large -12 fitting performance oil filter system, the filter its self is around 20% larger than most. Nascar standard. This will allow my oil to flow better and give more volume.
I forgot how much difference the car looks with the proper trims on, its been over 5 years since they were on the car.

Steve i am having problems finding any serious info on both those questions, been looking for a while now.
The adaptor, they all seem to be similar to derale and my derale setup which i still have leaked at the motor. So this time i planed to search for machined faces for the block off, as of yet no luck.
Re those plugs, yes they are for a remote oil cooler, heard 50/50 good and bad from low flow to leave them the way they are.
My issue is probably the same as others, remember like yesterday I did 3.5 hours of driving with 3 passengers during mid thirties heat. On my BBC 427  it orginally had the normal sump and I exchanged that for the Camaro Sump which is 30% smaller, so I need to add more oil so that I can drop the engine temp, getting heat soak still. The car maximum for yesterday was 220 and averaged 205 with passengers, with just driver avg was 198deg.
My plan is to put a big oil filter remote mounted for the above flow reasons, and also easier replacement.

Getting a larger oil pan won't lower oil temperature unless the larger pan is getting more air against it. More oil volume will only prolong the time it takes for the oil to heat up and also the time it takes to cool down. You're probably only adding a heat sink.
As for the remote adaptors, the System1 stuff is killer, but don't go less than -12 in size.
I use the System1 stuff. It's very good and is a serious high-end product as it's price will suggest.
Also, if you're serious about filters, I'd get one of theirs as well. They are catridge type that you dismantle, inspect, clean and reassemble. You'll see exactly what debris are leaving your engine.

As for coolers, I'm sure the factory provisions would be fine.
I also use a water/oil heat exchanger. I'd never go back to an air/oil as they way-over-cool. 200-220°F is normal oil temp anyway.

Most police are regular people. I get pulled over for breathos in back streets when they want a look - not RBT stations. :)
And that's without a totally cool 6-71 poking through with a gilmer whine lingering around.
Nice wedding!

It would be icing on the cake if I could get it into a mag with a story but I have not bee approached yet. Approached? If you look at the staff list in any of the applicable mags, you'll notice it's a team of less than 4 guys that usually work around the clock to produce the mag (with lots of freelance contributors). Compare that to the number of stunning cars getting around & the odds of being 'approached' are extremely minimal.
If it's what you want, email the mag with a dozen basic specs, a select few (unmodified) images and a couple of lines on the background angle that makes it an interesting read. Just don't go nuts initially - they're busy blokes. Then they will put it in the file and if when suitable slot it in. That said, you've already been a lead in Street Machine Readers Rides which is further than most get...;)

if it has been in readers rides and they haven't contacted you then you can probably forget SM. (my car was readers car of the month in November 2010 issue, I wasn't bummed that it wasn't a feature car lol)
there may be a handful of peoples names on the inside cover but they are the people that have been involved in that particular issue.
I am no expert yet, not by a long shot.... but my name only appears whan I have contributed. I had my first few stories handed to me on a platter... it seems to me now (I haven't been told) that I need to start looking for my own leads on features. I have one now that is a CRACKER!! very nice car... you can really tell the difference between a feature and a nice streeter.
If I want to be successful as a feature writer, I need to get to shows and find the cars that fit the SM criteria. I would definitely say that if a journo see's your car and is interested they will approach you.
when looking at this rationally... compare your car to Chris' yellow one, that should help.
btw, you guys really need to pull yer heads in, seriously. who the hell threatens other people on the phone?

Hi Jordan, this is why I am on this forum to learn from people like you and may be you pick up something from me,win win.
It's getting there Jordan, next is the vacuum pump for the brakes, then redoing rear end complete with spiral shocks an all gm bracketry nuts and bolts onto the 9"
Iam also in the process of replacing every bulb and light fitting over to 5000kelvin - 6000 deg kn, right down to the headlights. When all this SMD technology is installed it will provide me a frequency of light which is better on the eye, as it provides a white rather than the orange 3000-4000 deg kn lights, Current drain really stresses the alternator and with all this SMD lighting my calculation is that I could gain 1vdc charging, and 20 amp current loss.
Jordan have you got a plan for the back of the car wheels wise.

I will post some photos some time today.
1) put the lokar cable accelerator now there is no interference from the spark plug lead like you get with the lever system.
2) installed the lokar accelerator billet pedal
3) made up some brackets for the custom made washer tank, putting above the heater box.
4) installed lokar brake pedal and emergency brake.
5) picked up 3.5 mtrs of -12 braid and -12 fittings from proform, not happy taking the fittings back poorly made, cannot complete the fitting of the remote oil filter setup which I had planed to be done.
6) started making bracket for oil them gauge I picked up today, will need to modify the sensor outlet on the remote oil unit, it's two small for the sensor.
7) I will attempt to put the new rear bumper brackets today, and fit up other loose ends.:)

Hi Frank.
I purchase all my fittings now from eagles since last month superplus was purchased by eagles.
Super plus was my shop for fittings as they sold speedflo braid and fittings good quality stuff.
Eagles are proflow, braid and fittings, I stuffed two -12 fittings this week, and I suspect the braid was too tight. Overall they are not to bad.
Otherwise it's the internet, when I order quality remote parts I get the supplier to put speedflo fittings on the part at extra cost, saves me going through rocket at double the price, that's my experience.

Most of those cheap Chinese low end stuff is real byer beware stuff, been there done that like all of us, that's why I lashed out $400 buck on an aero motive fuel log as it was spot on quality.
Oh! VPW has their house brand and speedflo.

Steve I used to buy from them because my work took me over to epping regularly and they were always better than others on brand name items. I spent so much there they gave me a wholesale account.

Ok I went to Speedpro this morning, first time in 3 years, they now have a new factory in Airlie street and its fantastic. Everything from drag tyres to fuel injection systems.
All the fittings that Eagles didnt have in stock they had and did it with a smile. I am amazed at the technical products they have on the shelf from air fuel mixture tuning devices (for blown cars and others) to the largest Speedflow fittings I have ever seen.
True that this was all there before but he kept them behind the screen, this way he does not loose anything and is able to keep his prices low. Well guys you pointed me back to an ol suppler and enjoyed the experience.
I have just finished polishing the Speedflow fittings and i am now ready to plum the remote system in, just need to make up some hang tabs from the sump to route the two -10 lines so as to keep them close to the sump, the headers are very close.

I donated my entrance fee and spot to the club via guffer aka Shane to do with it what the group sees best.
Managed to complete the remote oil setup, I will try to get pics sometime. The engine now takes just over 10 litres of oil to fill.

Further updates.
Remote oil filter has been installed and works perfectly, had to make up 4 custom brackets that bolt to the sump bolts so as to tie the -10 line close to the sump.
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x102/bucketofbubbles_detailing/5747d30a.jpg
All the fittings are -10, initially I had set-up for -12 however the engine adaptor which is a billet type can not accommodate -12, so I changed everything for -10.

This unit has a sensor and keeps the brake booster at the same level, so when its needed vacuum is there. These are resold under various names, this one is Comp Cams.

Hey Paul, did you replace the OE 11lb filter bypass valve with the 30lb valve for remote filter?
25161284 is the GM number and it's their recomendation to replace the OE when remoting the filter.
There's a good chance that the new additional resistance through your lines, fittings and filter are greater than the stock 11lb valve.
In other words, you'll have unfiltered oil now -especially with -10 sizes, and definitely when it's cold. :)
I'm sourcing some ex-USA ~$20.. Do you want one?
PS: You'll need another one for the oil cooler bypass valve if you have a cooler fitted. Not mandatory, but 11lbs ain't much resistance to send oil via the cooler.
L88/LS7 MKIVs have use the same 11lb valves for the coolers for decades, but I'm upping to the 30 now that it's available for the later Gens.. Same part physically.

YEs I will be in that.
Where is this valve?
Currently I only have the remote oil hooked up, I could just put a smaller hose size in the system, but a lot of work though. Oil is going through the new setup at cold and warm why wouldn't be filtered.

In your pic, you are looking at the both of them..
The one adjacent to the filter screw adaptor, next to the oil inlet port, is the filter's bypass.
The one behind the filter screw adaptor is the cooler bypass. You beed to remove the filter screw adaptor with an Allen key. Probably 1/2" or 9/16", maybe a 5/8", but that's only if you are fitting a cooler using the OE cooler outlet/inlet next to the filter. (Those two square socket plugs.)
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x102/bucketofbubbles_detailing/92c581a1.jpg
Both of these valves open and bypass oil at 11psi differential pressure. If the resistance of your filter, hoses and fittings are greater than 11psi, and they will be when cold and/or during high flow demands, then oil will bypass the filter -partially or completely. It's a safety feature in the case of a blocked filter -the engine still gets oil. However, with any remote filter install, the factory suggests to up the valve to the 30lb one.
You don't want dirty oil. My filter bypass let a heap of crap through my mains years ago, so I blocked it in my MkIV and now, the System1 stuff does it for me. Personally, I'd block the filter bypass valve completely. It's not like you're not doing regular oil and filter changes.
I'm getting a 30lb valve for my cooler. If it's resisting more than 11lbs, not all oil is going through it.
The beauty is, when the engine demands oil, the valve simply opens and bypasses the cooler to feed the mains.

Steve thanks for looking out for me on this one.
This motor runs like clock work, huge difference between the late 60's motors and these ver 6's, mostly subtle. I love the O rings on everything, they just don't leak oil, vs. my last motor it was like a sieve. I do make sure every thing I put on are quality billet items as these forged product have casting marks In the O ring channels, so they introduce weakness immediately you install them. I.e the derale remotes mount oil manifold, and the part that goes where the filter went , woeful quality, any they are an expensive product, never never again.
Just came in from the shed after being bitten by Mozzies for the last hour, I have been polishing the radiator and removing scratches from other polished items.

Fitted the adjustable billet front end strengtheners
Fitted new Stainless Steel bonnet adjusters
Coated the radiator close out panel i had made years ago with an alloy wrap
Fitted a fill up point at the top of the radiator and fitted another bleed valve, you might be able to see.
Replaced distributor cap and rotor button, adjusted timing, changed hold downs from "push and clip" to allen head bolt down. Still have to sort leads and put MSD clamp on top. This took a couple of nights of head scratching as I broke the new cap whilst adjusting, found out i had a small brass VAC tree stopping the adjustment. Its hard sometime when you have 30kgs of alloy in the middle of the engine.
Lost another trim the on the Ralleys whilst driving, one of the s/s ones, picked up a new set low an behold driving past the same place and an honest person had hung it up on a road hazard sign. This allowed me to pick up a new set of trims and trim out the spare anyway.
Fitted all new brackets to the rear bumper and sealed the bolt holes from the weather.
Some NOS Chevrolet flags arrived, that means nearly all the outside of the cars dress up is NOS, i said nearly.
Plans on the book: reverse the boost pulleys take the boost to 8lbs, this will also give me bonnet clearance as the top pulley keeps hitting the bonnet, also will be a further power adder.
here are the pics enjoy.

You got it in one Frank, I showed it to Shane and Ben last night.
I have tried this product with reservations, but so far it's proved them wrong;
I took it for an hour drive during the 38 deg C day, the radiator temp was 250 F, no ripples, no new bubbles, and it looks better than my old close out panel.
The guy send a fair amount out to, I have tried a lot of this stuff recently on my family car and a lot of the claims are just tripe, this one so far is really good. Let me know how you go.

I also like the bling, a lot of the stuff I have bought over the years has ended up in the bin. There is something about a craftsman on a lathe turning out a piece of work that adds creativity to my engine bay. I have invested a lot into custom made stuff via Melbourne performance centre, they prep and build v8 super cars, very pricy but better than average out put quality.

Thank you Lindsay it's nice to get feedback from your peers.
I picked a year/period for this build of 1977, you have seen this, therefore i have accomplished what I set out to do. I did this as I was a devout scale model builder for almost 30 years and I built one of my favorite models similar to my build, I said I would make this and as luck has turned out I have achieved this.
The car still has a lot more to do; rear sway bar, front beefier bar, scrubb clean the under body, only done 1/4 of this, and then replace all the bolts including a billet set of smaller chassis rubbers.
We are talking about another car, this will be tabbed, Matt black etc etc

It happened due to fans not comming on when they should have during the 38 deg C.
During the peak of the heat the engine got to 225? F, after 1/2 an hour at 3000 rpm. I found the timing running a bit advanced, so pulled it back to fact 8 deg, also i adjusted the idle too fast so i adjusted this as well. I am also going to drop the trans cooler with a fan on it down from in front of the radiator.

I finally got around to measuring the size difference between my 59 toothed pulley and the 52 toothed pulley; 20mm which means I get a net gain on clearance from top pulley and top of bonnet around 17mm. Previously around 7mm, hence the damage to my new 4" cowl hood.
Changed the pulleys around tonight, very happy at the new clearance of 17mm according to the blu tack.

Hi Ash, this is getting close to the most hp I have had in a car.
No I am not frightened of the 800, quite the contrary as those who know me, since I was really young I have been around hp. My Target for this build was750, I am now well over that and I have 6 more psi up my sleave. If I wanted I could run another power adder as the trans was built with at possibility in mind.
What I am worried about is how it handles the street Ash, I also have some urgency needed with frame connectors, which I would like the same shape and size as the front and rear sections.

Today is the day that I allocated most of my time making space and building plates, to install the VACUUM PUMP. I found it easier to put the car up on ramps, so that I could get to the underneath of the fender to drill the pilot holes. Last night I made up the wiring loom which took a couple of hours to do it correctly.
ALSO I HAVE CLEARANCE UNDER THE BONNET NOW AROUND 20MM IMAGES BELOW.

Installed inside of the fender, next to the oil filter with plenty of operating room. The pump sits on 4 50mm rubber feet, and I made up a plate for it to sit on for extra reinforcing. A mate of mine has one in his car and it makes a lot of noise so with this knowledge I gave clearance and made the holes slightly bigger through the panel.

[/COLOR]Post up a printout if youve got one Paul.. did it go on an engine dyno?
I have a print out of the final tune which is tune number one, from mem 350 rwkw, 1420Nm torque, and a relatively flat lambda.
I need to book in again as a safety precaution, the motor still isnt run in. Fuel is not starved, if anything it appears to have leaned out a tiny bit, got plenty of timing; sitting on 8 deg.
This set is with the blower set to 4psi, setup two which I currently have is now 8 psi, still has another 7 psi in the back pocket, good to know but I don't want to go there. Btw the motor was underestimated by me, it was mid 500's before the blower went on not 400 like I thought, it had a bad flat spot prior to the manifold. Jamie the Math seem to all stack + or - 10%. It's not a drag car, I know I sound like a wanker when I say it, but it was a very personal build to kill a lot of daemons from my past.
No it was a chassis Dino, would have liked it to go on the engine Dyno, but was going to delay things for another week, two.

They were saying a similar thing but up to 7%, it's not a NOS converter, used to flash around 3200-3300 under load with just the carby, I have not raced this setup. The previous was a dominator eliminator that would slip like crazy this motor tore the guts appart on that one and the last gm400 the new one was made for this new super tough gm400 trans, I just can't remember the engineers name but it was all organized by Transgo, it's billet, built for 1500+ hp, and it was built locally, really good converter. I considered many many things to fix; from material covering, putting lights in the hole etc. the it dawned on me, my passengers need something to hold on to, so the hand strap came to mind, looked high and low when a set of Bentley NOS items 1984, Tripp chrome, and they work off a swinging lever, the will fill the hole and hide some scratches.

No I actually drive quite slow as we have several other cars, it's the way I have built the rear Leif springs, they are really firm in the left side and a bit softer on the right, so the car does not roll much it stays flat so people in the back seat get moved around a bit. Going to fix this by raising the stance with another set of springs, and put the 5 Leif on the shelf.
Yeah the blower is original; GM design. It's a great car Frank

Nice looking brakes. Whats the improvement in braking effect like? Also any need to change master cylinder?

They available through heartbeat, Camaro central etc. GM re release of the original z28 nickey, yenko, big block fact option, the original code was jl38.
You need to purchase a bracket for 1967 cars, 68 & 69 have a different bracket. You use the same brake booster, my booster is now additionally boosted and that's a 7" with 1" master cylinder.
What to expect?
The disks are still 11"
The pad are just under double size over single piston
On the disk surface these calipers waste very little surface area vs the single. The singles that I had left around 10 mm near the hub and about the same at the top, these calipers pickup just about all of that and around 30% wider.
They are simply enormous and the are GM and they were available each yr.
My car due to all the new weight woulnt stop that well, so I have gone for these, if the were not available for my car that year I would have gone for some of the popular aftermarket names.
I havent used them yet as I have not bled the system yet.

just a little quirky fact for you Paul.
these 4 piston calipers were also factory fitment on SS 350 67's.
4 piston calipers and no brake booster!!
that's why I shelled out for them too.

JL38? Don't you mean JL8?
The 67-68 front discs were J52. 4-piston, but the JL8 4disc option used the Corvette HD J56 which are also 4 piston, but much bigger.
J52 rotors are 1" thick x 11" diameter.
J56/JL8 front (and rear) rotors are 1.25" x 11.75". ;)

Oh my.. You have no idea of the Camaro nerds out there that would leave me for dead.
It's a simple/common mis-understanding that the rare JL8 option is only the addition of rear dics to standard fronts.
One day, nerdy info like that might help you out.

Ash when I saw your upgrade you inspired me to peruse this direction, as I was looking at willwoods.
If people have have not worked it out yet this build is a retro build circa 1977, but of course there are some minor variations from the theme, and hopefully this gives the project personality.

Back in 2003 when I was close lot purchasing this car I was communicating all over the USA, trying to work out how to get pallets of stuff over here, whilst getting info on the car.
I purchased from Matt Classic Bowties as his company had just finished their black 67 and it got front page on a mag and the employees new every little detail about the car parts, and guess what they are FEMALES, it's like they have the build mag in their head. Now that might turn some people on. :D:):D

First event with everything nearly completed, I could not believe the interest all day.
Why do people still touch the car when there are signs on it asking politely not to?

JUST SMALL STUFF TO DO, I HAVE SOURCED A COMPLETE FACTORY SHIFTER SO I WILL BE REMOVING THE LOKAR, THEN MY FACTORY WIRING TO GO IN, SOME TOWING HOOKS FOR THE REAR AND SOME GUAGES FOR TRANS FITTED, AND FINALLY ALTERATIONS TO THE COOLING SYSTEM BY SWAPPING THE TRANS COOLER WITH LARGE B&M THEN USE THECEXISTING ONE FOR THE ENGINE OIL.

It's just sad that morons have to look with their hands as if they are still 5 years of age.

It's so shiny under the bonnet thought I could let some of the light out. :D
Oh Steve can you assist me with where the two valves go that you kindly ordered for me?

Paul the only way to prevent greasy hand prints, jean studs, handbag buckles etc from damaging the paint of your pride and joy is to fence the car off with plastic chain and stands.
Remember to keep the fencing just far enough from the car that if the uprights fall, they don't hit the car.
The fence will also help with people not getting close enough to steal any valuables you leave in the open windowed car although that stuff should be left in the boot.
Another thing the fence will do is attract more people as train of thought is there must be something nice on the other side of the fencing.

...and you'd be the only guy there with a fence.
The oil filter bypass is the one you can see. The oil cooler bypass is the one where you will need a 1/2" in-hex socket (or Allen key) to remove the filter screw-on thread.
Both existing valves will deform and be throw-aways when you remove them.
For Ben's, I used a long skinny bolt with a filister-head from an old alternator or starter motor.
I put the head into the valve and with a nut, washer and spacer (maybe use a large 1/2" drive deep socket or whatever), tightened the nut which pulled out the valves. If that doesn't work (we had limited success with that idea) then ditch the spacer and we ended up using a floor board nail remover (or maybe a small claw hammer) and levered it out pulling on the washer.
Make a slide hammer of sorts, that may also work.
To install them, simply (and gently) tap them in using a socket of similar diameter with a short extention and a soft (nylon) hammer.
They are an interference fit and don't require Loctite or any other retaining compound.
If you like, you can mar the edges with a sharpened cold chisel to deform them and keep them in place. This is a small insurance and you will note that the factory did this on the ones still in your engine. :)

Steve so the valves are in oil filter area not the two hex head cooler holes?

I have finally just about completed the cooling system after putting the big block in.
Transcooler is now a large B&M super cooler using -10 line, billet inline stainless screen filter and 1/8 temp sender for the guage.
Engine cooler has been mounted this is a B&M Spal fan on a 12" cooler, it comes on mid 200c, not plumbed yet as I still need a lot of fittings which I have ordered from all over the place. I am just goin to put this cooler in series with the large remote filter I have installed, rather than running another set of -10 lines beside the sump.
Both are mounted low behind the grill, in front of the air splitters, now we wont be forcing hot air back on the radiator.
THIS IS THE K&P ENGINEERING STAINLESS MICRO MESH, TRANSFILTER FINALY GOT IT ALL TOGETHER AS THEY WERE DESIGNED TO BOLT TO THE BLOCK, THE CURRENT DILEMNA IS WHERE TO PUT IT.
AND YES, THEY ARE ALL THE WRAPPERS FROM PIGGING OUT ON EASTER EGGS......
