hey all... just a long shot but worth a try... im looking at buying a '69 camaro z28 clone... its LHD at the moment.. but my intentions are to convert to RHD that is needed to qualify for the Small Vehicle Charter (scv) work... car is in VIC and hope to get all work done over east and just ship it here.....

just need names and numbers that can do a engineered mirror conversion with air-con etc

contact me via:

email: espek@iinet.net.au

yeah kurt i know where u coming from.. and i do appreciate a great LHD car .. used to own a '88 vette (lhd) ... but i also appreciate a well engineered RHD conversion.. i have seen some real shoddy ones in the past and it does make me cringe :( i mean in this day and age, the technology is there and very hard to tell it has been converted in most instances.... and its a bugger cos im getting into driving work for weddings, balls etc and all cars have to be RHD... sux.. wish they can have licence left hook and make it easier ... i mean **** i pay my taxes to johnnie howard FFS :D

Fair enough.... everyone has their reason's... did I ever mention I'm a real fussy bastard LOL I am yet to see a RHD conversion that I would be satisfied with.

I don't know I guess I look at it this way....

The car was born that way..... I was born left handed then someone made me be right handed... well it just wouldn't be right LOL With cars like this it's nice to leave as they are....

Hey Muggz,
Are you talking about the blue one that Pete has?

Would be a shame to see it converted. Mine is still left hook and will stay that way, but that's just a personal choice I guess.

69camaro: im not sure buddy.. is pete on these forums?.. i just seen a heap of camaro's (3 in fact ) in blue on carsales and carpoint... just having a gander at the moment.. i just need a '69 in time and then i would have owned every car of the 1st gen

Muggz.... My wife keeps telling me I should do weddings.... Perfect excuse for me to get a pair of Z11 pace cars! LOL :D I reckon a pair of those would be unreal! I was unware that they had to RHD though??? So better of building up replica's if it was to happen.....

Also man I was on the phone this morning to u.s Re: your wilwoods So I'll try have an answer for you next week.... wanna make sure I'm gettin a good deal!

Kurt

BTW My 69 will be for sale.... Though I am not sure how much you are willing to spend ;)

Hey Muggz, want me to go take a look for you ? This is just down the road from me (like 10 mins away). This guy always has 1-2 old Chev's in stock. Could look it over for you....although I am traveling for business until 14th May but could try.....

Find someone to do the conversion for you? I could recommend they guy's I used, but they are mainly Mustang specialists.. Every now and then I see a chev in there from a camaro, firebird, T/A and a few GMC Trucks..

I guess if you pay enough they will do it :p

Here's the details anyway..

Mustang Central
Factory 5/46 Industrial Park
101/155 Beresford Rd.
Lilydale Vic 3140
PH# 03 9739 4877

As far as i know they have an engineer that can come and inspect and give the ok to their work. Give them a call. A guy named Colin is probably the person to speak to..

Steve.

Just bumping this year long thread....
After extensive scouring the Perth metro for anyone that does conversions LHD to RHD seems to be non-existent.

Because ive already done the conversion to the subframe on my '68, I only need the dash, wiper and firewall converted. It has crossed my mind to have the shell transported east to a reputable shop to get it converted, but thats the last option.

But yeah if anyone knows someone in the West Coast willing to do this.. throw em this way :D

If you end up sending it east Muggz I'd highly recommend Anthony at Classic American Restorations in Adelaide. He's always got plenty of first generation camaros on the go being converted. He knows exactly what he's doing and does an excellent job. 8262 5689 :)

Dave,
I agree,
I used to be a regular visitor to Classic American Restorations, I have seen Anthony's work and it is excellent.

Hey JJ.
Apart from the blistered paint under the bonnet from when I had the fire. You can still see fire extinguisher crap under there. :)

Might be an idea to contact Murray from 'Cruisin' (Ch31 show). If there are people in/around Perth doing conversions then i'm sure he'd know.
