These are a bit old now, but some of you may not have seen them. BMW commissioned 8 x 10-minute "movies" to be made promoting their new models at the time. That was insane :eek::eek: As a racer and a fire fighter, things would have been hairy from inside and outside of the car. Believe me, those fire fighters did a great job. Quick response time given their lack of visibilty and having no clue as to what was happening.

Here is what a close friend of the driver had to say on our club website.


Well, first off friday night we were up til midnight dropping the oil pan because the plug on the oil pumps relief valve backed out, bent the spring, and broke the little piston inside...the racepak said there was decreasing oil pressure, thats what it was found to be and we fixed it in about three hours or so. It took so long because the engine and fuel tank had to be hoisted up avout 5 inches so the oil pan would clear the rack and crossmember. Fixed it, no probs.

Eric ran a 7.77 @ a conservative 182mph in the morning with 26 degrees of timing and decided to give the firebird 2 more degrees before the last pass. Nothing, and i mean nothing else was done to the car. Its obvious the car left just fine, but when it started to get loose he was unable to pedal. The throttle was unresponsive and after pulling up on the toe hook a few times he started reaching for his switches and chutes while braking. It was only a split second before he smacked the wall and was unconscious. The throttle remained stuck, however the front control arms had buckled from the impact and it prevented the car from moving forward, with the help of the broken master cylinder. The puke tank and evac lines are what caused the fire. Burned wiring cause the engine to finally stop running. The fire team on site said they believed he pulled his fire suppression and he was reaching for things when they got there but his motor skills were sub par to say the least.

I dont mean to be rude, but he did try to kill it and its definitely harder than it looks with a harness, hans device, visor down, and a 20 suit and gloves on...in a fraction of a second. The pro charger and methanol-injected 598 just kept...charging. when i suited him up and tightened his shoulder straps down he said they were really tight and made a "fat" comment, but we didnt take the extra time to back them off. Im glad we didnt.

It was crazy, not much else to talk about. Horrifying to watch, you really feel helpless when they wont let you over the wall. Hes ok, he was drinkin beers that night like normal and his CT scan was perfect. Hes bummed about demolishing "Old Crow," as we all are, but his attitude is surprisingly upbeat. The boys are looking for a tube chassis to make an outlaw 10.5 car or a pro mod. Its crazy because we built that engine in mark wilcox's garage two weeks ago, starting with the bare block. We're at least happy its ok for the most part, running that hard for that long. It turns fine by hand and a lot of people at the track gave him props for it today, saying it never popped or missed a beat. Hopefully some new exhaust valves (D/S header got smashed and got really hot) and main bearings are all it will need.

Thanks to everyone sending positivity, its very much appreciated. I hope no one else ever has to go through that and everyone stays safe in their pontiacs!

I got the tip from a British newspaper and the incident was under police investigation, could be the reason for removing it.

I built one onf these when I was about 11 or 12..
It's the Revell Visible V8..
I later on (in my very late teens) decided to attach it to a drill and spin it up.. Damn thing hung on til about 4000rpm which was as fast as the drill could go.. I had the losen main caps to get it to blow up!

Anyway, this guy is as dumb and as immature as me! :D

Ronnie ha 11 of these, including the 2nd fastest in history (something just over 6mins). The first ever 147 break was an aussie a long time ago...forget his name.

I love snooker, I have a 3/4 size table in my house (been in my last 3 houses), would have gone full size but easy to accomodate a 3/4. Custom built, 1" laser cut single piece slate, 8" turned legs in hardwood. Hardwood table with red gum stain. English high speed latex cushions, competition felt (actually bought from England for a full size table (only comes in that size) and cut to fit). Canadian maple queues (one has warped though), aramith competition balls

i don't get to play anywhere near enough and really miss it. I used to play a lot, I mean a lot. usually 5-6 hours practice on weekends and comps on Sat and Sun night, at pubs it was stupid, no one would play me.

Not that good anymore as I think I play like once a year now

The thing i love about it is the thinking and strategy, the planning 3 shots ahead of the one you are playing now.

Anyone ever up for a game let me know, I need the practice as I do suck these days.....

Cheers Jase, that was my second run ever,I improved as the day progressed, although some of the tracks with slalom runs got very tight!:( , considering the EVO, ae86, and golf GTI, I was up against the 45 yr old 1.5 tonne iron did respectably on the top gear ladder they had crafted :D

If using just two lanes, at least with an oil-down, you could keep racing on the other two while they clean up..
