Well guys ive bought another car into my life as of thursday the 30th :D
for those that are wondering, this was an actual purchase over the US ebay site. The car was located in Napa, CA and the seller was very confident and truthful during the transactions.. i will definately use him in the future.
as discussed on a previous thread about import approval etc
( http://www.usmuscle.com.au/Forum/showthread.php?t=354 )
i have no hesitation in doing another personal import in the future as it was such a smooth sailing, even the ports unloaded the car and hosed it down for me!!.. all i needed to do was pay the bill and organise the tilt tray (in the end if i had a new battery i could have driven it home)
When i saw it rock up in the driveway i was trembling in the knees in excitement.. it was a feeling like i had to go to the toilet but i didnt have to kinda deal ;)
ill give a little history:
This car is in fine condition. It has been impeccably maintained and garaged in a dry and clean environment since 1958. The car was at one time repainted in the original colors of Camelot Gray Metallic code 18 with Alpine White Top code 12. The Body by Fisher tag shows these color combinations to be correct for this fine example.
A correct and original “Numbers Matching” car that shows extremely well, this car certainly is worthy of high regard at any Classic Cadillac Show. It has this year been shown and awarded top honors. This Fleetwood remains one of the best Sixty Special Fleetwood examples today.
The chrome is all in very good to excellent original condition. You must look closely to find any minor imperfections. The original chrome is extremely nice. All the gold letters are very fine. This car has the optional gold grill which was available with the Eldorado engine package and is in fine condition.
All the weather strips are excellent. A close inspection at the clips and screws and all hardware reveal they are clean and bright indicating the fine condition of this Fleetwood. The glass is excellent Only one vent window and the windshield are not original to the car. All other glass is original E-Z-Eye tinted glass with correct date codes.
^^
I must say for a car from 1958.. i ran a magnet over the whole car (1 hr exercise) through every body part you can imagine and the magnet never fell off  i knew i was onto something good.. until i jumped into the car.. man the interior was immaculate.. i felt like elvis in this car.. it was so excellent condition.. i was awe struck!! all electrics work- windows, air con, heater, stereo, seats etc!!
anyways back to reality i got a new battery then found out after charging the existing battery that it was in perfect condition (just needed a charge)... i whacked it in and cranked the car up.. and started the first go!!! it was in a container for like 6 weeks and for it to start up first time i was shocked but ecstatic at the same time... its happy time now!
put the car into the shed.. i was confident to take the car over the pits Monday (today) to get licenced but had to pull out due to the Vacuum operated windscreen wiper system failed me!... i installed new vacuum hoses etc.. but it opens up but doesnt retract :(
i found out over the net there is a company that makes brand new electric motors that bolt in direct and you just need to wire in... 2 speed operation and delay etc... ( http://www.newportwipers.com/ ) that bolt in system with all the delay switches etc cost around 300usd landed to front door!! you cant beat that for sure.
anyways enough babbling.. time for some pics... :D
