I will need to get a roadworthy for CH plates in the future. The question is do the testers take into account the age of the car.eg. drum brakes cannot stop like modern cars or have lap seat belts only, not lap/sach:confused:
I understand not all 60,s cars had washer bottles for example:confused:
Will testers accept the car as it left the factory if all parts are in good condition for their day :(
Anyone been thru this in the Victoria ????

I think they do take into account what was on the car when it was produced, and I think anything pre '69 (i'd assume that includes 1969 models) have a different set of rules aswell...

All the Vic roads rules i've read always differentiate pre-69 cars... Especailly when it comes to EPA issues :p

Best bet would to call VIC roads directly and ask.. but be warned.. they don't all know what is going on...

Also here are the Vehicle Standards Information (http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/RulesStandardsRegulations/VehicleStandardsInformation/) directly from Vic Roads.. i find them a good read, quit funny some of the things pointed out in them.

Besides arnt you looking at changing brakes and things for your build? I know drum brakes won't help you stop if you slot the ZZ502 or larger in it :p

Yeah I plan to do the disc brakes conversion but need the CH plates to get thing around to different vendos like exhaust, Auto elec etc in the meantime. Hate car trailers

If it's a 69 youll have to get a roady+ VASS, and before you get that make sure your lubed up with some VASSaline. Vass is a pseudo engineers report which only last for 28 days and set you back from $300 up.

There are quite a few people do these but they all do different cars so you will be limited to a few wankers, and yes they are wankers. EG: The slappa that done mine made me put belts in the back even though Vicroads adr's say i don't have to have them. The same slappa thought he was some sort of a brain surgeon ....but was just a goose :) I had to explain to him why my 4" cowl induction hood was legal

OR if your lucky enough like my goodself, your '69 was made pre jan 1.
My '69 Vette was made in Nov '68 so when i went to Vicroads told'em when it was made in '68 and they registered it as a '68 :D
If you don't have this luxury...your up 5hit creek

Good luck with it, if you need any info pm me and i'll get back to you.

cheers

I went to the RTA and they say for CH plates you need the Roadworthy or a safety certification from a reconized RTA club e.g Chev Car club and you must be a member. No mention of VASS ??
My VIN shows a build of November 1968 at Norwood so no problems with RDA compliance
